Climate Central America

In the Dominican Republic the climate is mainly tropical. In the south the climate is rather subtropical. With the exception of the mountains, temperatures are quite similar and fluctuate only slightly between summer and winter. While it is warm in the summer months on average 30 to 33 degrees, in the winter temperatures of 24 to 28 degrees are to be expected. Precipitation falls all year round, with the highest rainfall from May to October. The least rainfall falls from February to April. Water temperatures range between 25 degrees in winter and up to 30 degrees in September and October. However, from August to October there is a danger of hurricanes.

The best time to travel is from January to April. However, as in all tropical countries, it is humid all year round.
