Climate French Guiana

Climate South America

The country, which politically belongs to France, is characterised by a tropical climate due to its proximity to the equator. The temperatures hardly fluctuate in the course of the year. There are constantly high temperatures with average maximum values between 29 and 32 degrees. At night, the values are usually between 21 and 24 degrees. In addition there is a high air humidity, which is bearable at least in coastal proximity by trade winds. Heavy rain showers must be expected almost daily. The rainy season lasts from December to June. The smallest amounts of rain fall in September and October. The annual precipitation amounts lie between 1700 mm in the northwest and 3800 mm in the southwest.

For trips to French Guiana, the dry season from September to November is recommended. Then showers usually occur only at night or early in the morning.
