Climate Kiribati

Climate Australia & Oceania

The islands of Kiribati always have a humid tropical climate. Due to the location in the area of the equator, temperatures are high throughout the year and fluctuations in the course of the day and year are only slight. The maximum values lie in the climate average depending upon island between 27 and 33 degrees. On the islands, which lie north of the equator, more rain falls from June to November than in the remaining months. Near the equator, rainfall is more evenly distributed throughout the year. On the islands south of the equator, the largest amounts of rain fall from November to April. Near the equator the annual rainfall is about 1000 mm. On the remaining islands mainly between 2000 and 3000 mm. Most precipitation falls only in the course of the day during showers or thunderstorms, so that on average the sun shines 7 to 8 hours a day.

For trips to Kiribati the time between August and November is recommended. Then there is less precipitation than in the other months. The air and water temperatures invite you to swim and dive all year round.
