Climate Maldives Islands
The Maldives has a tropical climate due to its location near the equator. The temperatures remain almost the same throughout the year and are usually between 29 and 32 degrees. During the nights the temperatures rarely fall below 25 degrees. The relative humidity can be quite high at times. But mostly a pleasant sea breeze blows. The precipitation is very strongly dependent on the monsoon winds. From January to April the lowest precipitation amounts fall because of the prevailing northeast monsoon. In the course of May, the rainy season begins with the southwest monsoon. In total, about 1900-2000 litres of rain fall per square metre per year, which corresponds to about three times the amount of rain in German regions.
The months January to April are particularly suitable for a beach holiday in the Maldives. In the other months it is also warm, but you have to reckon with considerably more rainy days.
