Climate Panama

Climate Central America

Panama has a tropical climate with hardly any seasons. Daytime temperatures are between 29 and 32 degrees Celsius throughout the year and night temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees. In the higher regions, the temperatures are somewhat lower. The year can be divided into a rainy season and a short dry season. On the Caribbean coast it rains with 3000 mm per year more frequently than on the Pacific coast. In Panama City the annual precipitation is about 1800 mm. The rainy season lasts from April to December on the Caribbean side and from early September to late October on the Pacific side. In addition, it is generally cooler on the Pacific.

The best time to visit Panama is during the dry season from December to March. Then most of the hiking trails are passable, and it is also best to expect dry weather for bathing holidays. The dry season is also recommended for diving and freshwater fishing.
