In the west of the country, at Lake Kivu, it is mild and temperate, in the highlands cool, partly with relatively high humidity. The average temperature in the highlands is about 19°C. There are two dry seasons and two rainy seasons. A short dry season lasts from December to January with average Kigali temperatures of about 20.3°C. The rainy season is from February to May. The best time to visit Rwanda is during the dry season, both large and small, either between June and mid-September or between December and January. But due to the altitude, the climate is actually pleasant during the whole year.
