Climate Slovenia
Slovenia lies in temperate latitudes. Despite its relatively small size, there are very different regional climates due to its location and landscape. The Adriatic Sea in the southwest of the country has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters. However, in the region the cold fall wind Bora can occur. In the north-east of the country the climate is more continental. In the Pannonian lowlands the summers are hotter and the winters colder, with frequent highs of more than 30 degrees. In the mountains one finds alpine climate with very cold winters and only moderately warm summers.
The summer months of June to September are recommended for bathing holidays on the Adriatic as well as hiking and climbing tours in the Alps. The spring offers pleasantly mild temperatures for sightseeing or round trips. Winter sports in the mountains are usually available from December to March.
