Climate Turkmenistan

Climate Central Asia

Turkmenistan has an extreme continental climate with very hot summers and quite cold winters. In the capital Ashgabad an average of 2°C is measured in January. In July, however, the thermometer often rises to temperatures above 30°C. In general, Turkmenistan's climate is characterized by the very pronounced temperature amplitude at the extreme values. Thus one extreme value, -33°C, contrasts with the other, 46°C. Only very little rain falls. The average rainfall during the year never exceeds 300 mm.

The best travel times are spring and autumn, with nature at its most beautiful in April.
